Chapter Seven

When Travis pulled his lips from Aaron's to gasp for air, the loss burned like acid on Aaron's skin, and he dove back in for another kiss. They were in the wrong place, and this was the wrong time... and Aaron hoped like hell someone he respected enough to listen to came into the room soon to put a stop to this because he was past stopping himself. Travis was no help.

The brat would only incite him further if he tried again to insist they stop. His hand trembled as he fought to keep it clamped to the back of Travis's head. Travis moaned again, a hot, needy sound that ripped away the last tattered shred of Aaron's control. His fingers closed around the edge of the sheet over Travis, and he began to pull downward.

"Ah, boys... you might need to put a lid on all that testosterone before Mrs. Morris gets in here. She stopped at the nurses' station to thank them for taking such good care of Travis, but she'll be here any moment."

Mr. Morris' voice trembled a little at the edges. Jerking around, Aaron took in his glinting eyes and the twitching corners of his mouth. Thank God, he was amused by their show.

Aaron twitched away from Travis, his face burning. His shoulders lowered, the strain of fighting his selfish desires to do the right thing by Travis easing. Mr. Morris's paternal authority took over. Aaron breathed a sigh of relief. His eyes met the steady hazel of Mr. Morris's, and the warm acceptance in them shook Aaron to his core. He blinked hard against a sudden stinging sensation like grit under his eyelids. Shit.

Mr. Morris lowered his gaze for a split-second, and then cleared his throat. "Aaron, I want you to know that Mrs. Smythwick caught a glimpse of you driving like a bat out of hell up the white line of the road on your way back to the warehouse yesterday. I know you were worried." He paused, pressing his lips together tightly.

"You need to know that if I ever hear about such foolishness again I'll forget you're a man grown and take you out behind that big monstrosity you and Travis call home---son, I will knock sense into you just like I used to have to do with Taylor and Tyrone."

Aaron gaped at Mr. Morris.

"Timothy never needed a whooping, and no one in the family could ever stand to raise a hand to Travis after we almost lost him---no, don't speak. Don't think that because your last name isn't Morris you can get away with anymore nonsense than any of my other boys. Are we clear here?"

Aaron nodded mutely.

"God, T, you are such a fucking brat." Aaron slammed his mouth shut, gaze flashing up to see how Mr. Morris took his words.
